By Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16 ESV)
This text helps us to know how we let the word of Christ dwell in us richly.
- We teach and admonish one another in all wisdom. This means we teach the truth of Christ to one another. We share what we learn. But not only do we teach the truth, but we apply it to our lives. We gently challenge ourselves and one another with the truth. Growing in Christ happens when we lovingly inspect the ground under one another’s feet. And we do this in all wisdom. This seems to mean that we teach and admonish all of the wisdom and knowledge we can gather. We don’t just share some of what we learn, rather all of it.
- We sing. Our mouths should be full of an assortment of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; and all of this is to be done with a thankful heart.
