Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The opposite of Satan is not God, but rather an angel along the lines of Michael the archangel. Are you sure that the father of lies, the fallen angel will not separate you from the love of God? The devil is an accuser, but not your judge. He is a deceiver, but not your truth. He seeks to meet you in your darkness and offer you an interpretation of your experience that might bind you to a lie.
- I am a bad mom
- I can never lead my family well
- My wayward child will never come home
- I will never let my spouse hurt me again
- I need peace and quiet right now
- I am just too sensitive
- I am too much for someone to love
- I will never be okay
- I am broken beyond repair
- I will never find joy again
- I will always be afraid
These are examples the deceiver offers us of false interpretations of our experience that sound right in the moment. These lies have tentacles that touch a need we have in our heart and we find comfort in agreeing with them. They are walls of lies though that shut us out from our Father who loves us and will never speak accusing words to us. Our Father’s voice is always kind and never shameful.
Nothing in all of creation will separate you from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord. What agreements have you made with a lie spoken in darkness. These lies will not separate you from the love of God, but they do need to be exposed by the light and broken by the powerful name of Jesus.
