By So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord, and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but no one knows the place of his burial to this day. -Deuteronomy 34:5-6
I read this passage to my little girl Elsa and she said ”Moses was buried by God?” She was amazed by that as was I just a bit earlier when studying it. God had given Abraham, Issac, Jacob, and Moses this promise that they would enter the promise land. God’s desire was to give it to Moses as promised. But Moses’ anger and theft of God’s glory when he stuck the rock as oppose to speak to it, led God to take back the promise to Moses. Certainly this broke the Lord’s heart. Moses was 120 years old and full of strength. The Lord brings him to the top of Mount Nebo to show him that he was faithful to bring Moses and the people to the promise land. He shows him the promise land and tells him that He will give it to his offspring. Then he takes away the breath of his loved one Moses and himself buries his servant there. Jesus Christ wept when his friend Lazarus died. How much more do you think the Lord ached when he laid his beloved Moses in the grave?
