For the whole law is fulfilled in this one word “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:14 ESV)
The Bible tells us that every command and every law is summed up in this one over-arching command; “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Is love an emotional feeling? It could be. But the previous verse defines the kind of love Paul is talking about. He says, “Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” So the entire law is summed up when we, though love, serve one another as we would want to be served. Is that so hard? It is the most freeing, and yet the hardest thing I could hear this morning.
May our great God give you and I a heart of love today.
