“My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.” -Proverbs 3:1-2
There are many things I think I have learned, but then soon find out they were not actually lodged in my memory. Most of the time it is because I never practiced the truth for a period of time sufficient to burn it into my memory, or become a part of who I actually am.
The Lord comes to us as a Father and lovingly says to us “son, do not forget”. Do not forget me, and do not forget my teaching. To forget is to wither away from the memory, and cease to be important. It is shameful to think that our Father’s teachings cease to be important to us, but that is exactly what happens.
O Lord, do not let us forget you or your commandments. Let our heart regard you as important and necessary. And let not your teachings wither away from our minds.
