The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
As we open our Bibles and begin reading the words of God regarding our origin, we read that everything God had made was good. The first thing that brings God's displeasure was not an object that he made, but rather a condition; aloneness.
God created us to be in community. This is true because God himself resides in the three-fold membership of the mysterious Trinity. He knows that because he himself needs to be in community, we likewise must because we are made in his image.
We see that Jesus was always with people; always in community. There were many times though when he would withdraw from the crowds and seek solitude by himself. But he was not outside of community because he would withdraw to be alone with his Father. This example is of utmost importance for us to follow. We likewise need solitude, but not simply to be alone; rather to be alone with the Father.
