Memory Verse 172
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:12-13
Read Hebrews chapter 9
Sin deceives us. It hardens our heart and causes us to disbelieve the truth, disbelieve the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. This, according to the writer, is evil. To remedy this, we are instructed to exhort one another every day. Exhortation is one of the means that God uses to remove deceitful sin that so hardens our heart. Exhortation must come from the Word and not just one persons crabby speech to another. It is observing the life of another, and lovingly bringing the truth of Scripture to bare upon their needs. And this must be done every day. Why every day? Because sin never sleeps nor slumbers.
