1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
When we experience trials, we can tend to feel alone and think we must be the only one who has had to suffer in the particular way we are. The Scriptures come alongside our thinking and teach us we are never alone. First, there is never a temptation you will experience that is unique to you. There is a commonality in temptations that transcends humanity. You are never alone in the matter. Secondly, God is always watching and helping. He see’s all of your temptations, and is actively providing escape routes. These routes are emergency exits intended for you to flee through. He does not promise to help by removing the trial from us, but by a door through which we must flee. He provides a door so that we will not be overtaken. He provides a door so that we will not be tempted beyond our ability. He provides a door so that we can endure. It all hinges on the knowledge that we serve a faithful God. He is faithful to watch and provide. We must be faithful to TRUST him to provide a way; faithful to be LOOKING for the way; and faithful to RUN from the temptation through the way he provides.
