By Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
The Son of God was pierced, crushed, chastised, and wounded on account of moral crimes you and I committed. We broke the law and Jesus took the blame. It seems so unjust. Yet if you think it through, the streets of gold would never know a human footprint were it not for Christ. No person could rise to meet the demands of the law. He is the only way, only hope, and only life lived in Holy trust.
The fact of Christ’s crucifixion can not be changed. It happened in history and we can no more change the data then we could of George Washington’s life. The text tells us Jesus WAS pierced and crushed. It is true. It also tells us something true and unchangeable about us as well. That we HAVE BEEN brought peace; we ARE healed. This is true, and can not be changed no matter how we might feel. Trust in the words of the Lord today and not in what you might feel.
