Fighter Verse For July 5, 2015
“I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!” –Psalm 34:1-3
The Christian life is meant to be a happy life. This does not mean that we will not suffer, nor struggle with anything. The apostle Paul was sorrowful, yet he was ALWAYS rejoicing.
The Psalmist calls the Christian in our fighter verse the humble. He desires for the humble to hear him praising, exulting, and boasting in the LORD. For if he hears him boasting in the LORD, he will be glad. And this is craving the Psalmist has for the Christian, that he be glad.
We serve a happy God. He does not intend for his followers to be moping around in this world like we have no hope. We hope in a living God who has eternal blessing and joy in store for those who’s life is characterized by repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! Let the humble hear this truth and be glad! Let us exult his name together!
Have a blessed and happy Independence Day! For in Christ we shall never experience autonomous independence; for in him we live and move and have our being. True happiness does not come from independence, but from community with our triune God.
