Fighter Verse For June 28, 2015
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” –Galatians 6:9–10
Believers are to do good to all people and especially to fellow Christians. Paul uses the phrase “household of faith” to describe the community of believers.
Christianity is a family religion. The gospel of Christ is meant to be passed down from one generation to another in the home. This truth is meant to be lived out as well so that the aroma of Christ might effect all who dwell inside. Christ also takes people with different blood lines and makes them into family members. He taught us this when someone yelled to Jesus that his mother and brothers were outside the place where he was once teaching. He then looked at those who were listening to him and said, “whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:50)
Many of us know that this is true through experiences we have had with total strangers. We begin to talk to a person and find out that they are a fellow worshipper of Christ. We soon see that there is a bond which seems much like the bond that hold together a family. Our conversation flows easy much like speaking with a sister you have known for years. The reason for this is because Christianity is a family religion. We are fellow members of the household of faith. And we are to be giving our lives to do good to everyone, especially to our fellow family members.
