By The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. –Psalm 19:7-8
The Scriptures do more than just revive the soul, or make the foolish person wise; they rejoice the heart because they are right.
Satan is the father of lies. Lying brings destruction, disharmony, and sorrow everywhere it is spoken, believed, and encouraged. God is the father of truth. So truth by contrast, brings unity and joy because God is in, through, and behind all that is right. The precepts of the LORD rejoice the heart preciously because they are true. And truth brings lasting and eternal joy.
We rejoice when our children are faced with a moral dilemma and choose to speak the truth instead of lie. Many times my children have done something that was bad, but spoke the truth about their disobedience instead of cover it up. I try to commend them when this happens because the truth is always best.
The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart. Start this day by letting the truth of the Scriptures penetrate your heart. You will find that sparkles of joy begin to glimmer instead of shadows of sorrow.
