- Read Job 25
This last speech from the three friends is given by Bildad. It will be the final time one of them speaks before Job gives his concluding appeal, before Elihu presents his glorious rebuke, and before God himself opens his mouth. Bildad’s words are good and to the point if taken along with the whole of Scripture. What he says is true, yet again he seems to have no category in his mind of a merciful God who redeems the man who is a worm and a maggot. Job is a man who is suffering as deeply as any have upon this earth. He has said things that never should have grown out of his heart; but haven’t we all? He knows that his Redeemer lives (19:25), and will repent in dust and ashes (42:6) in the end.
Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven (25:2).
