Last Wednesday was the final youth group gathering before summer break. We were memorizing one Bible verse a week as a class, and doing the same verse as a family. Our family now will be doing the fighter verses from Bethlehem Baptist Church through the summer, and I will be posting them here along with any devotions we might do to assist the memory process. I might even be reading them around the dinner table; we’ll see how that goes tonight.
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. –Lamentations 3:24-26
The Lord is my portion. Karie (my wife) typically serves me my portion at the dinner table. It is common for her to stand and dish out each of our plates while we sit and wait for our portion. Most of the time Sammy (our son) asks for a lesser portion of vegetables than Mom gives him. Most of the time I grab an extra portion after my plate is clean. We each have different size tummies that our portion is intended to fill.
Our souls were made to seek the Lord as our portion. Nothing in all of creation is intended to satisfy the soul’s palate other than Jesus the Son of God; our portion.
