Colossians 1:19 “For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,”
All the fullness of God was pleased to dwell in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus contained a full measure of faith, a full measure of discernment, a full measure of wisdom, love, hope, mercy, justice, and on and on it goes. The measuring rod that God uses to determine the quantity of attributes in an individual is God himself. He grabs his measuring rod and sizes up Jesus. Jesus comes to the bar and records a full measure every time.
If God was pleased for a full measure of himself to dwell in Jesus. It follows that he would be pleased with lesser measures to dwell in us. I do not mean that it pleases him more and more the lesser we appear like God, but rather the more we do. As we draw near the end of the year, it is a good time to reflect back upon the past 12 months and ponder whether a greater measure of God has been evident in our lives or not. Let’s each pray that 2015 will be a year that God would be pleased to dwell by fuller measure in each one of us.
Happy New Year! The more like God we are, the happier we will be.
