For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. (Psalms 100:5 NKJV)
Yesterday evening we headed off to church for dinner and youth group. As we were driving, my eldest daughter Ali asked me how my day had been at work. She had saw me come home a bit late, say a quick hello to everyone, hop on my work computer and bang out my service tickets and reports for the day. I then quickly took a shower, gathered the troops and flew out of the house.
“My day was kind of stressful honey,” I said. “I could tell,” was her response. She told me that, though I don’t appear angry, she can tell by my tone and focus when I have had a stressful day. I then proceeded to tell her that all of the current jobs I have going is a blessing, and am very thankful for each one; yet I felt like I am being pulled in a hundred different directions. “Lots of different people are all fighting over my time,” I told her.
She then proceeded to tell me that she wrote a report today on the Immutability of God. “He never changes Daddy, and will always pull you in the same direction, and that direction is toward his son Jesus.”
The Lord is good. His mercy, truth, and faithfulness are everlasting, unchanging, and will endure to all generations. There will never come a day when he will pull me in a direction other than towards his beloved son Jesus.
Press on dear brother and sister in leading your family devotions. There will most certainly come a time when your faithfulness will return to you on a day you don’t feel quite so faithful yourself. Praise the Lord for our children and the faithfulness and enduring truth of Jesus Christ!
