Using A Cardboard Shield

As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. (‭Psalm‬ ‭18‬:‭30‬ NIV)

As for Scott, his way is imperfect: Scott’s words are filled with flaws; he uses everyone around him as a shield.

It’s really disgusting to think about how unlike God we actually are. We are made in his image, yet we reflect him so poorly. Take the simple truth of the text above us that says God shields every person who takes refuge in him. Is this true of you? When you are standing in a group of people and they begin to say something bad about a friend or family member of yours, do you stand in the gap between these people’s words and your friend? Do you let those reproaches fall upon you instead of upon them? Is your friend’s name safe and shielded in your presence? It is the fear of man that keeps our lips closed during those times and not the fear of the Lord. I pray this morning that God would grant me the grace to be a faithful shield to those who have placed their trust in me.
