Job 1:9–11 Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.”
The Lord is so very kind to us. He has provided me with a good and stable job, a roof over our head, and an abundance of food for our strength. I am sure that though pain has come to our family at times, God has surly built a hedge around our family. We have suffered far less than we may have if God was not sifting all things through his sovereign hand.
The question for the day is, do we love him merely because of his benefits. If he were to take away all that we have like he did with Job, would we still love him? As I recall, God said to Satan that there was no one on earth at that time as righteous as Job. I don’t presume to think that I could lift my hands in praise like Job did, but I would like to think that my love for God is unconditional because of what he has given me through Jesus. It is a hard question and can really not be answered unless the circumstance arrived.
Watch this video with me as we remember the grace that God has given us in the past to remain clinging to the hem of his garment.
