What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all; how will He not also with Him grant us everything? Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the One who justifies.
God is absolutely and completely sovereign over his creation. This means he is sovereign over not only his creation, but his creatures. Since this is true, who can be against the one whom God is for? Even if the whole world seeks to accuse and condemn, the Christian can never be found guilty in the courtroom of heaven.
The doctrine of God’s sovereignty is not quite the same thing as a people seeking to overthrow a government, like say Ukraine. The president can think to have sovereign power until the people gather, raise up arms, and by force and numbers change the fate of the land. It is not so with God. No amount of numbers, weapons, or force can alter God’s sovereign plan for one instant. He is sovereign over the realm of men, both good and bad. This is why the Christian can rest completely secure knowing that because God is for us, no one in all of creation can be against us.
