Westminster Confession, Chapter 3, Paragraph 4
4-These angels and men, thus predestinated, and foreordained, are particularly and unchangeably designed, and their number so certain and definite, that it cannot be either increased or diminished.[72]
Particular redemption, or limited atonement is a touchy subject. People seem to be easily jostled when this subject comes up. I personally do not struggle with it whatsoever. The Scripture reference that convinced me years ago was probably an obscure one, but nonetheless, it was the one the Holy Spirit used.
"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her..." (Ephesians 5:25)
I thought, “huh, Christ gave himself (died) up for a particular group of people called the Church; that sounds like limited atonement to me.”
Have a great weekend!
