Westminster Confession, Paragraph 3, Chapter 3
3-By the decree of God, for the manifestation of his glory, some men and angels are predestinated unto everlasting life; and others foreordained to everlasting death.
It surprised me this morning to read that the confession mentions the destiny of angels. The Scripture proof that some angels (and people) are predestined to eternal life, and some to eternal death are these.
- 1 Timothy 5:21 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.
- Matthew 25:41 Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Romans 9:22–23 What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory.
Ephesians 1:5–6 He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

- Do you struggle with the doctrine of predestination?
- If so, what do you think would be a better option? And why?
