1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
- Read 1 Corinthians chapter 9
I am very aware what it is like to run a race with the intention of winning as I was in track throughout high school. I remember the feelings of nervousness and anticipation. I remember crawling into the starting blocks and waiting intently to hear the sound of the gun. All of your senses are heightened as you are focused on this one sound. Then as you burst from the blocks, your whole mind is focused on one thing; winning the prize.
This is the way we are suppose to be running the Christian life. The Christian life is not a life of competition, where we seek to beat certain individuals. But one in which we seek to beat ourselves, the world, and the devil.
But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27
