1 Corinthians 3:16–17 “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”
When Jesus arrive in Jerusalem, he came toward the temple riding on a donkey. Do you remember what happened when he went inside the temple? Right, he saw that the temple had become a “den of robbers” instead of a “house of prayer,” and he over turned over the tables in anger. He did this because the temple was to be a holy place. A place set apart from defilement.
In the same manner, our bodies are now the temple of God. Inside of them resides the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit desires for them to be set apart from defilement. Can you imagine bringing your iPad into the Jerusalem temple (assuming they had wifi) and pulling up a pornographic video to watch during the worship service? Of course you can not. That would be wrong wouldn’t it. But it is the same way with our bodies now. Our bodies are the temple of God’s Spirit. If we bring such garbage into the temple of our body, we are polluting and defiling God’s sanctuary. What a horrible effect this sin has caused in our society. Flee such perversion! If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
