Our Lord Jesus teaches us that God never wants a day to go by without hearing from us. He has grace stored up for us each and every day, yet he does not give it all to us at once. He wants us to daily petition him at the throne for our needs. Our day brings many trials, temptations, heartaches and anxieties; but they are too heavy for us to carry all at once. God does not want his children burdened with tomorrow’s cares.
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34
If God were to give us all our requests, we would soon forget about him and become self-sufficient. He does not want us to be like the high priest of old and enter only once a year into the holy of holies. He wants to see our face each and every day.
