A Bumper Crop Of Righteousness #devotions

Hebrews 12:11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

  • Read Hebrews chapter 12

Spankings are never fun. They are not fun for the one administering the discipline, and they are certainly not fun for the one being disciplined. So why discipline? Because the Bible instructs us that there are certain end results that will follow if we as parents don’t discipline, and certain results if we do. We discipline because the Bible instructs us that the end result of discipline will be the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

You (my children) may not see this end result of righteousness. And there are surly times when we (us parents) don’t see this end result happening. Both situations make it hard to stay under the painful discipline. We need this fresh promise from our heavenly Father that those who have been trained under discipline will have a bumper crop of righteousness growing in their field in time.
