By No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. –1 Corinthians 10:13
It seems from this verse that each one of us has a certain ability to resist temptation; tempted beyond your ability. It also does not seem from this verse that God increases our ability to resist these temptations. It simply says that God is going to do something for us in the midst of the temptation so that we will be able to endure it. The thing that God does is provide a way of escape.
What’s important to remember is that God is faithful. Even if we become faithless, he remains faithful. He loves his children and does not desire that we fall prey to the wiles of the devil. Jesus himself was tempted by the devil and the Lord provided a way of escape for him; the scriptures. We must always have an arsenal of bible verses ready and waiting in the recesses of our mind to combat these temptations that are common to man.
God is faithful!
