1 Timothy 1:15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
Do you think of yourself as a sinner? Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners and not the righteous. Paul (the one writing this) expresses the heart of the one who knows he needs Jesus. He calls himself the foremost of sinners.
The foremost means the same thing as chief or worst. Do you think of yourself as the worst sinner in our family? Do you think of yourself as the worst sinner at our church? I would dare say that we probably do not. Why do you think that is? Was the Apostle Paul really a worse individual than we are?
One of the first steps in becoming a Christian is seeing your own sinfulness. Nobody comes to a Savior who does not think they have a need to be saved from their sin. Do you honestly think of yourself as a sinner? If you do not, then as of today, Jesus did not come into this world to save you. If you do think of yourself as a sinner, then rejoice, Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
