James 1:19 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;”
This command is something that you and I are suppose to know. The first step in becoming a quick hearer and a slow speaker is to hear the command to know this.
We can become so quick to interrupt. I can not think of many instances where an interruption would be justifiable for the Christian. One place where it would never be justified would be when God is speaking to us while we sit under the hearing of His Word at Church. Another time would be under the reading of His Word during devotions. It is God who speaks to us through the Word and we ought to always be slow to speak and quick to listen to God.
Jesus’ death paid, not only for the sinful acts of our body, but the sinful speech from our lips. Rest in Jesus to help us today be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
