THE NAME OF JESUS

John 16:24

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

The name of Jesus is the most powerful name in all of creation. We must not make the mistake though that Jesus’ name is some magical name. The power is in the Person of Jesus and not in reciting his name per say into the air. That being said, there are many things the Bible says regarding the name of Jesus.

If we receive a child in the name of Jesus, we are receiving Jesus (Matt 18:5). Jesus is in the midst of two or three Christians when they are confronting a person in the name of Jesus who is in sin (Matt 18:20). We are to be aware that false teachers will come in the name of Jesus (Matt 24:5). Whatever we ask in the name of Jesus, he will do for us when glorifying God is our motive (John 14:13). The Holy Spirit is sent from heaven in the name of Jesus (John 14:26). We are to be baptized in the name of Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:15). And maybe most amazingly, when we believe in the name of Jesus; our sins are forgiven, our debt is cancelled, and we are given free and eternal access into God’s heaven (John 3:16-21).

Maybe, up till this day, you have asked nothing in the name of Jesus. Our verse of the day promises us that if we ask God, in the name of Jesus, for anything that will fill us with true joy; He will give it to us. Maybe you should ask today It is one way to know if your desires are truly good desires. If God withholds from you what you ask, you would be happier without it. Trust God; He knows best.
