WHEN PEACE, QUIETNESS, AND TRUST REIGN FOREVER

And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. (Isaiah 32:17 ESV)

How can the simple effect of rightness produce such enormous things as peace, quietness, and trust forever? I think it is because righteousness is not just some subjective societal set of norms but an objective standard set by the character and person of Jesus Christ. So when Jesus reigns according to his standard; all his subjects will reflect the same righteousness. It is similar to the way peace, quietness, and trust reign supreme in the Trinitarian relationship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

When we are born again and righteousness reigns in our hearts; these three qualities will begin to reign in us and in our relationships.

The effect of Jesus’ righteousness is quietness, peace, and trust forever.
