Escorted By Angels
So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. (Luke 16:22 NKJVS)
I don’t know for sure if we will be able to fly in heaven, but I read here that there is at least some mode of travel. This text makes it sound like at death, the soul of the believer does not ascend by itself to the banquet table of Abraham, nor is it only escorted, but is carried there by angels.
This picture is sweet, especially for this beggar named Lazarus. He was not filled with much food in this life. Yet he is now reclining at the banquet feast with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and best of all; Jesus!
Questions:
- How does a person enter this blessed place called heaven?
- Do you think that “Abraham’s bosom” is in a separate location than heaven? Or is it a reference to reclining at a table with Abraham in heaven?
- Does this text make it sound like at death, the believer is carried by one or multiple angels?
