Created To Shine

Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. (Daniel 12:3 NKJVS)

Have you ever wanted your name to appear in neon lights for all the world to see? Do you dream of being someone famous so that other human beings would bask in the glory of your name? Maybe your desire is smaller and only crave to be thought well of by those around you. If you said yes, this most certainly is self-glorification and profoundly sin. Yet there is a glimmer of original design inside that seed of glory.

We are depraved and always seek our own glory. It is hard to even conceive of a heart motive that would desire to shine like the sun, yet not be the one receiving the praise. But that is exactly what awaits the child of God.

Daniel tells us that “the wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament.” The wise is a synonym for the Christian; those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. And it is the destiny of the child of God to shine like the sun in the kingdom of the Son. It’s hard for me to grasp that my desires could be so pure that I will shine with the reflection of the radiance of the Son of God, yet I will not be the source of that light, nor crave to be that light. I will be merely a reflection, and I could never ever desire it any other way.

The home that awaits the Christian sounds so grand! Hope to see you there.
